Expert poll: Mortgage rate predictions for Feb. 6-12
Hi guys! Welcome back to Bankrate’s weekly expert poll for mortgage rate predictions. This is where we ask financial experts to give us their predictions for next week’s mortgage rates.
According to Bankrate’s latest national survey of mortgage lenders, today’s interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is 3.73 percent, inching up 3 basis points from this time last week. On Bankrate dot com, the average rate clicked on, by consumers, was 3.43 percent. That’s 30 basis points lower than the national average.
Now let’s see if our experts think today’s rate will move up, drop or stay the same next week.
50 percent of experts think rates will go up
10 percent of experts say that rates will go down
40 percent of experts predict that rates will stay the same
Rates are near rock bottom, so this is still a terrific time to lock in a low rate. And if you’re eligible to refinance, then this might be a good move for your bottom line.
